The leading run scorer from the just finished World Cup, Virat Kohli, will not be eligible to play in white-ball matches when India embarks on its tour of South Africa, which starts with a T20 International in Durban on December 10.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been notified by Kohli of his decision to take a leave of absence. During the tour of South Africa, India will play two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20 internationals.
However, according to The Indian Express, Kohli will play in the Test matches.
The Indian team will be chosen for each of the three formats by the national selection committee, which is led by former Indian all-rounder Ajit Agarkar. At home during the World Cup, Kohli had an incredible performance, amassing 765 runs in 11 innings, including three hundreds. In addition, he was named the tournament’s best player.
